They said it would not last, but plans are now under way for

The 10th Tenterden Folk Festival.

This special anniversary festival will take place from 4th to 6th October 2002 and will include some very special guests and special events. The exact details will depend on the outcome of negotiations with funding bodies and the availability of guests and suitable venues. Dance sides from all over Kent and Sussex, London and Surrey, and beyond, are being invited to take part in this year's event.

One of the highlights of this 10th festival is sure to be the Saturday evening barn dance. The main hall at Homewood School has already been booked and we are very pleased to be able to welcome The New Scorpion Band. The band includes Tim Laycock who is of course is no stranger to Tenterden having appeared at the concert 11 years ago that actually led to the festival starting the following year. He has also been back since with Taffy Thomas the renowned storey teller. This year however he will be fronting one of the best concert and dance bands on the folk scene. Tim originated from Dorset but other members of the band are more local living in Kent and Sussex. The caller for the barn dance will be Tim's wife. The New Scorpion Band will also be playing at a Special 10th Anniversary Concert on Friday evening.

More details of the guest list and the festival will be published in due course watch the local press and folk magazines for details.

Full details of the Festival line will also be published on the festival the web site at www.folkspots.btinternet.co.uk.
