Funding successes:

Tenterden Folk Day Trust is pleased to report that we have been successful in our application for lottery funding under the Awards For All scheme. The grant of £5000 is to fund the acquisition of PA and display equipment and includes a small sum for an extra guest at The 10th Tenterden Folk Festival. Details of the extra guest(s) will be announced in due course.

In addition we have also been successful in an application to Ashford Borough Council's Community Fund and will be receiving a grant towards the running cost of this year's Festival and a further sum towards our capital expenditure programme. This follows our earlier successful application to the Kent Rural Community Council - CASK Partnership which awarded a grant towards advertising, prompting and running the Festival. We are of course still receiving the full support of Tenterden Town Council, Ashford Borough Council and all our usual sponsors, supporters and friends.

Guest list:

The latest addition to the guest list is Bram Taylor, an entertaining artist with a distinctive voice and relaxed stage presence. Bram has a large repertoire of traditional English folk songs as well as some contemporary and humorous songs. He plays acoustic guitar and duet concertina. Bram is a well-established folk club and festival performer and has toured throughout the UK as well as in the USA. This will be his first time at Tenterden Folk Festival.

Other recent additions to the guest list are Brian Peters and Gordon Tyrrall who have played at Tenterden Folk Festival before but are back by popular demand. Brian plays melodeons and Anglo concertinas and Gordon is the duos main guitarist. They perform traditional music with vibrancy and virtuosity.

Both these latest additions to the guest list emphasise Tenterden Folk Festival's policy of booking the best performers of traditional English folk song and music.

Events:

The Festival will get off to an exciting start on Friday 4th October with the special 10th Anniversary Concert in what should by then be the newly renovated main Hall at Homewood School. The concert will feature Pete Castle, Bing Lyle, Andy Turner, and Tim Laycock and the New Scorpion Band. The Scorpions will also be playing for an English barn dance in the same hall on Saturday evening.

The latest details of the Festival line up can be found on the web at www.folkspots.btinternet.co.uk.
