Tenterden Folk Day Trust
Tenterden Folk Day Trust is a
registered charity formed in 1994 to preserve and advance public education and
appreciation of traditional and contemporary folk music, song, dance and other
related traditions, crafts and folk arts as a part of the living heritage. The
Trust is supported by Ashford Borough Council, Kent Arts and Libraries,
Tenterden Town Council, The Musicians Union and South East Arts, as well as an
increasing number of local businesses and other organisations.
The Photograph Exhibition:
One of the Trusts events is a travelling exhibition of photographs taken mainly
by local professional photographer Caroline Scott at the annual Tenterden Folk
Festival and photographs of other Trust events throughout the year. The
exhibition currently features over 500 colour and black and white photographs
(6"x4" to A4 sizes laminated will velcro
tabs) of folk dancers, street entertainers, musicians and other performers. The
exhibition goes on display during the year in various venues in Tenterden,
Ashford Civic Centre, libraries, museums and other venues across
We will continue to add photographs taken at Trust events over the years.
"The Times They are a Changing":
This is an additional exhibition featuring a selection of old
photographs of Tenterden taken in the late 18 and early 19 hundreds.
Some of these photographs have been featured in books such as
"Tenterden" by Aylwin Guilmant,
while others have not been seen for many years. It is planned to continue to
expand this selection of photographs as they become available.
Contact:
The exhibition is available free of charge to suitable venues.
